In order to do fuller justice to the history of the Hofkapelle München, Rüdiger Lotter as artistic director and co-founder expanded the ensemble in 2024 with a professional choir. In its core line-up the choir comprises 16 singers and performs alongside the orchestra as the Choir of Hofkapelle München.

In the 16th century the Hofkapelle München was one of the largest and most significant choral institutions in Europe. With the founding of the Choir of Hofkapelle München, the aim is not only to broaden the repertoire accessible with the orchestra, but also to enable the revival of music performed at the Munich court from the 16th century onwards — making an essential part of Bavarian musical history come alive once again.
